There is a similar species : Megacoelum infusum.

M. beckeri has long black spines on the outside of the hind tibiae and longer hairs on the inside. Mainly on Pinus sylvestris.

M. infusum has short black spines on the outside of the hind tibiae and shorter hairs on the inside. Mainly on Quercus sp.

Mainly on Pinus sylvestris and Pinus halepensis.
