This species is difficult to distinguish from D. medius and D. albipes.

D. medius is smaller and less elongate than D. agilis and D. albipes.

The host plant can also be useful for identification. D. agilis  is in Germany mainly found on Euphorbia cyparissias and in Great Britain on Euphorbia paralias.

D. medius is mainly on Euphorbia cyparissiasEuphorbia amygdaloidesEuphorbia seguieriana.

D. albipes is more linked to a warm-dry climate and can therefore also be found in the Mediterranean area.  It is also taking advantage of global warming to move further north.
